At Mirit Glas, we are proud to have completed the ‘SMV: Green Competencies’ program as part of our ambition to become more sustainable. The goal is to improve our work with sustainable processes and meet future climate requirements.
Climate requirements are a part of everyday life, and there are high expectations for both products and partners. At Mirit Glas, we have long been working strategically to become more climate-friendly and reduce our carbon footprint. We do this not only to take responsibility but also to meet our customers’ needs for documentation of their climate impact. That is why we have prepared a CO₂ report that our customers can use in their climate documentation.
As a manufacturing company with high energy consumption, we will never be fully sustainable in the strictest sense of the word. However, we are continuously working to improve our climate impact.
Therefore, we have participated in the Danish Business Promotion Agency’s program, “SMV: Green Competencies”, where consultant Jeanette Lauridsen from Dichmann Lauridsen has provided us with deeper insights into how we can best collect data and present an accurate picture of our climate footprint to our customers.
With the increasing EU requirements for climate-related reporting, it is crucial that we can provide precise data. These requirements include the disclosure of information on CO₂ emissions, resource consumption, and other environmental impacts, ensuring greater transparency and accountability.
As part of the program, we have collaborated with Jeanette Lauridsen to develop a new CO₂ report. We have gained a better understanding of how we can streamline data collection using the “Climate Compass” tool. This makes us better equipped to provide accurate information to our customers and prepare for the upcoming ESG requirements from the EU.
This work is also part of our efforts to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We now consider environmental awareness more actively in our purchasing decisions, consumption, and waste management.
Among our initiatives, we have installed solar panels to cover part of our energy consumption in a greener way. Additionally, we have set up charging stations for electric vehicles and are continuously working to optimize our energy consumption.
There is a lot to manage when the main task is producing glass. That is why we are open to all assistance that can help make our company more climate-friendly. Moving forward, we will integrate data collection as a natural part of daily operations and make it easier for all employees to think sustainably.
