Denne type glas kendes af mange som \u201dgorillaglas\u201d, men gorillaglas er faktisk en specifik r\u00e5vare (Aluminosilikat glas), der h\u00e6rdes og bruges til bl.a. smartphones. Vi har lignende r\u00e5varer, der ogs\u00e5 er s\u00e6rdeles velegnede til kemisk h\u00e6rdning. Det er glassets kemiske sammens\u00e6tning, der afg\u00f8r dets egnethed. Man kan slibe, sk\u00e6re og bore i det, men de heraf blottede kanter vil ikke v\u00e6re h\u00e6rdede, hvorfor glassets styrke bliver reduceret. Det er ogs\u00e5 muligt at kemisk h\u00e6rde glas, som allerede er buet i forskellige faconer.<\/p><h3>Kemisk h\u00e6rdet glas er ikke sikkerhedsglas<\/h3><p>P\u00e5 trods af den \u00f8gede styrke over for slag og b\u00f8jning kan kemisk h\u00e6rdet glas ikke kvalificeres som et\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/miritglas.com\/da\/produkter\/sikkerhedsglas\/\">sikkerhedsglas<\/a>. Det granulerer nemlig ikke som termisk h\u00e6rdet glas, men g\u00e5r derimod itu og splintrer som almindeligt glas. Derfor b\u00f8r man v\u00e6lge termisk h\u00e6rdet glas, hvis det er vigtigt, at glasset granulerer. Udvekslingen tager 16-18 timer og aktiveres ved, at man s\u00e6nker glasset ned i et kar med opvarmede salte.
